ELTiS® SITE PRIVACY POLICY

Effective starting: February 11, 2016 (view current versions)

The following policy applies to ELTiS® website (“Site”) operated by Ballard & Tighe, Publishers, a division of Educational IDEAS, Inc., (hereinafter referred as “B&T”.) B&T recognizes the importance of protecting the information that we collect from customers as they interact with the Site, including purchase transactions, user registration, and Site use. It is our policy to use this information, or information acquired through user postings at our Site, for internal business purposes only, and we maintain appropriate security measures to keep this information private.

INFORMATION COLLECTED DURING REGISTRATION

The Site requires registration to access the system and creates your account automatically using your e-mail address. This makes it easier for you as you don’t have to create and remember a login identifier. The use of your e-mail address for login also allows the Site the chance to e-mail you a new password in case you forget or lose your old one.

INFORMATION COLLECTED DURING SITE USE

The Site collects personal information that you provide to us and uses it to personalize and setup the Site for you. This includes information on users authorized to access the Site under each main account and identifies branches, school sites, and authorized staff. It also potentially includes test takers’ names, birthdates, demographic information, and score data, all of which are kept secure as further discussed in “Data Security” below. Such test taker information is used to produce individual and group reports for various levels of authorized users under your account.

USE OF INTERNET COOKIES

When you visit the Site, we may store information about your web session and assign you one or more “cookies.” A cookie is a small text file that a web site saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the Site to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size, and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the Site or browse from one page to another. Permanent cookie files remain on your computer’s hard drive until you delete them manually using your browser or operating system software. You may wish to delete such cookies periodically from your computer. You can enable your browser to refuse cookies, but doing so may disable access to some services and tools that we offer.

PROTECTING YOUR PRIVACY

We take every step possible to protect your privacy at all times. We also employ security measures to protect personal information in storage. The data will always remain protected, and we will never add you to any e-mail lists unless you make a specific request for us to do so. We use any information we gather only to help us understand your needs and make our web site or products more valuable to you. We will not provide any personal information to other companies or individuals without your permission and we won’t sell your personal information to anyone.
B&T may disclose to authorized law enforcement personnel the personal data from anyone who poses a threat. This might include those that are attempting to commit fraud or those who conduct activities that could bring harm to others.

DATA SECURITY

B&T has taken several steps to safeguard the integrity of its data and prevent unauthorized access to information maintained by us. These measures are designed and intended to prevent corruption of data, block unknown or unauthorized access to our systems and information, and to provide reasonable protection of private information.
This information should not be construed in any way as giving business, legal, or other advice, or warranting as fail proof, the security of information provided via this Site.

USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

The assessment data created and obtained from the use of the Site and the related testing and score reporting services is owned by B&T. B&T may use this assessment data for internal business purposes. We use test taker demographic information and test responses to properly score the test taker, provide diagnostic information, and report scores in groups by demographic characteristics. Without reference to information related to test taker names, we may also use the same data for statistical analysis purposes and aimed at improving the quality of the test.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

B&T reserves the right to modify this privacy statement at any time. If there are material changes to this statement on how the Site will use your personal information, we will prominently post these changes prior to implementing them. If you use our Site after we post these changes, this indicates your acceptance of them. Regardless of later updates, we will follow the privacy practices described in this privacy statement at the time you provided us with your information.

DISCLAIMER

The Site may have links to external web sites. These include links to web sites operated by government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private businesses. When you link to another site, you are no longer on our Site and this Privacy Policy will not apply. When you link to another website, you are subject to the privacy policy of that new site.
